FLORIDA PLACES AND DESTINATIONS:
COCONUT GROVE

South of downtown Miami, where the foliage becomes lush and tropical, Coconut Grove, often simply referred to as "The Grove", was legendary in its heyday as an arts colony.
Today, the culturally diverse locality draws throngs of tourists and residents to its restaurants and cafes, art galleries, boutiques, movie theaters and bookstores.
In fact, it is because of its many and varied restaurants that Coconut Grove is sometimes known as Miami's Food Court. Some local favorites include Green Street Cafe, Monty's Raw Bar, Tuscany, Mr. Moes, and Le Bouchon, a French cafe.
Coconut Grove is home to popular attractions like the Vizcaya Museum and Gardens, (an Italian Renaissance mansion), and the Barnacle, historic home of Miami pioneer Ralph Monroe. The Barnacle Historic State Park also attracts visitors for the beautiful views of Biscayne Bay.
Each February, the Grove honors its artistic roots with the Coconut Grove Arts Festival, the nation's largest annual outdoor celebration of visual arts and crafts.
