FLORIDA PLACES AND DESTINATIONS - DUNEDIN

Located near Clearwater on the Gulf of Mexico, Dunedin was settled by Scottish immigrants in 1899 and each year the city celebrates the Dunedin Highland Games and Military Tattoo when Scottish clands descend upon the town.
In addition to the Highland Games, Dunedin also hosts the Dunedin's Mardi Gras celebration that attracts thousands of visitors.
Dunedin is also known for having one of the most walkable downtown areas in the region as well as one the most cyclist friendly. In fact, the Pinellas Trail, a 39-mile long bicycle and pedestrian trail, bisects downtown Dunedin. Bicyclists are a common sight in the business district.
The town is also ideally sitauted for the attractions of St Petersburg and Clearwater including nearby Honeymoon Island State Park, a natural getaway for boating, swimming, fishing, picnics, and nature exploration less than a five minute drive from the mainland. Caladesi Island State Park, accessible to the public by ferry from Honeymoon Island or by private boat, has consistently been named one of Florida’s top ten beaches.
