FLORIDA PLACES AND DESTINATIONS - LEESBURG

Leesburg dominates the waterways for which Lake County is named and known. Between Lake Harris and Lake Griffin, at the head of the Oklawaha River system, Leesburg is located in the heart of the Florida peninsula, south of the Ocala National Forest.
Both Lake Harris and Lake Griffin are good for bass fishing. Slow cruises along the scenic Dora Canal, lined with majestic cypress trees, bring sightings of alligators.
The Venetian Cove Marina is located in Venetian Gardens on the shores of Lake Harris; in downtown Leesburg is the Leesburg Historical Museum.
Leesburg offers easy access to Florida's most famous attractions. There are opportunities for fishing, hunting, camping, hiking, horseback riding and swimming in deep, clear springs.
Leesburg enjoys an annual Mardi Gras Celebration and parade, the Leesburg BikeFest, holiday festivities and a Fine Art Festival.
