FLORIDA PLACES AND DESTINATIONS - MADISON

Founded in 1838, Madison has restored many of its downtown historic Antebellum and Victorian buildings. Antique shops, carriage lights, brick sidewalks, and additional landscaping add to the charm.
In the heart of downtown Madison, a short drive from Tallahassee and Jacksonville, is the Four Freedoms Park which commemorates the Four Freedoms identified by President Franklin D. Roosevelt. The monument there honors Colin P. Kelley, a former Madison County resident who was recognized as the first US hero of World War II.
Fort Mack is a complete replica town built inside the walls of an 1800's style fort. It is home to "Frontier Days" and Wild West shows. O’Toole’s Herb Farm is a big Madison attraction.
Madison’s forests, rivers, lakes and springs provide bike trails, canoe trails, equestrian paths and hiking trails. At Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park. visitors find everything from campsites to camping cabins, and plenty of sports, games and recreations.
The small hamlet of Greenville in Madison County was the childhood home of rhythm and blues giant Ray Charles.
