FLORIDA PLACES AND DESTINATIONS - OCOEE

Ocoee, Florida

Like many other cities founded in the 1800's, Ocoee in Orange County, just 10 miles from Orlando, has its share of historical locations.

Among them are the Withers Maguire House built in 1888, the Christian Church built in 1891, the Railroad Depot built in 1914 and the Ocoee Cemetery where Early Settlers and Civil War veterans were laid to rest.

Clarcona Horseman Park and the Central Florida Fairgrounds are home to a variety of events throughout the year. Each fall Ocoee holds the annual Founders' Day Festival featuring live music, rides, food, fishing tournament, and other family activities fun.

There is boating, fishing, "tubing", water skiing, and jet ski riding on Starke Lake. On the shore of the lake are picnic areas and a dock for fishing.

Ocoee provides guests with easy access to the Florida Auto Auction, the Citrus Bowl, Universal Studios, West Oaks Mall, Seaworld, Winter Park, Mount Dora Rennigers Antique Fair and Walt Disney World.
