The House of Refuge Museum at Gilbert’s Bar provides a look at turn-of-the-century living along the coast. The house, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, was one of ten commissioned by the US Treasury Department as havens for shipwrecked sailors and travelers along the barren coast.
Stuart Lanes is a (48) lane bowling and entertainment center. There are over a dozen designer golf courses.
The Florida Oceanographic Coastal Center is located on Hutchinson Island. The Treasure Coast Wildlife Hospital offers help for sick, injured and orphaned wild animal patients.
Teeming with wildlife and with four scenic nature trails, Jonathan Dickinson State Park offers camping, canoeing, hiking and bicycling, picnicking, fresh and saltwater fishing and guided tours of the Loxahatchee River.
