FLORIDA PLACES AND DESTINATIONS - TAMARAC

When Ken Behring had made his fortune in the Midwest with a chain of carwash centers called Car-A-Mat, he bought land about 13 miles northwest of Fort Lauderdale in a region which was then little more than a fledgling senior retirement community.
He called his new city Tamarac, Car-A-Mat spelled backwards.
Tamarac's Veteran’s Park has a veterans' memorial; Sunset Point Park features a walking trail and a small amphitheater; and Caporella Park has a lake with a fishing pier. The Tamarac Sports Complex has facilities for imany activities. The Tamarac Theatre of Performing Arts is a popular South Florida venue for live stage entertainment.
Tamarac's central location provides easy access to numerous attractions in nearby cities and towns – Fort Lauderdale, Hollywood, Dania Beach, and Plantation.
